UPDATE – Running in Parallels 5 on Mac OS X
A little while ago I bought the Hobbyzone Super Mini-Cub RC airplane and it’s been great. But when it’s windy or dark I can’t fly it. So I decided to buy Hanger 9 FS One—a RC flight sim for Windows. However, I’m on a Mac. The good news is that via Bootcamp FS One is beautiful. I’m running a 2.4GHz Macbook Pro with a GeForce 8600M GT 256mb. Monitor is a 23” apple display running at 1920×1200. I watched the frame rate for a little while and it tended to hover around 100. So for anyone wondering if it will run on a Macbook Pro, the answer is yes.
As for FS One itself, it’s a lot of fun. The panoramic fields looks amazing. Even my wife commented on how realistic they look. I’ve only played with it for a couple of hours so far, but I like it better than RealFlight. For one thing FS One has the Corsair which is just a neat looking plane. You can’t land in the water in FS One, but that’s not an issue for me.
I have only one complaint and that is that my boys are hogging all the fly time!
Thank goodness they go to bed early :-)
